Sorry we didn’t post Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. We (as in Pastor Mike) had some technical difficulties. Pastor Mike thought he set it up to automatically post, but put the wrong dates…..my bad!
Here is our typical Thursday post from our man: Noah Barfield, Mr. Thursday Post! Halla!
We are God’s Masterpiece!
Let me ask you a question…… Have you ever been to a gourmet coffee shop? I mean a REAL gourmet coffee shop, not Starbucks. A place only the locals know and go to for their hot (or cold) beverage needs.
I am currently sitting in one as I write this and as I was trying to come up with something to write about I had an epiphany. I came to this epiphany after watching the workers make serval specialty lattes, cappuccinos, and chemistry experiments with names longer than the genealogies found in 1st and 2nd Kings. (Anyway back to my original point) The level of detail and care that they pour into their drinks is incredible. Now I’m not a coffee expert, (in fact I don’t even drink coffee) but I can’t help but notice and appreciate the intricacy’s that go into every drink. It is an involving, multi-step process where each cup comes out with both the same and unique features. It is all the same drink but every single cup comes out just a little bit different. And that’s when it hit me, that’s kind of what God does with us but on a whole other level.
We were created by God. Not only that, but He created us in His image! We were and still are created in His image! WE ARE CREATED IN HIS IMAGE!!!!
There is a reason I keep repeating this and it is because we have become so numb to this truth that it barely holds any meaning for us. You hear it said and then everyone nonchalantly thinks “Yeah yeah we are created in God’s image.”
We desperately need to take a step back and begin to realize just what that phrase means for us. The creator God who made everything that is in existence, chose only to create one thing in His image. Humanity. Adam and Eve. Us.
We are created in the image of God. That is not something to be taken lightly or thrown around nonchalantly. God’s word says we are His workmanship; His masterpiece. He created everything known and unknown, but only stopped after He created humanity.
We are created in His image. We are created on purpose, for a purpose. And just like a gourmet cup of coffee, each one of us has similarities, but also has unique differences. No one person is exactly the same as another other, yet we are all created in the image of God. And God has a purpose and plan for each one of us.
Now go out into the world knowing that God loves you so much that He chose to create you in His image, and has created you for good works!
Will you choose to live in the life He has made you for?
Will you choose to keep finding your identity in the things of the world?
Or will you except that you are a child of the living, creator God who made you in His image so that you could have life and communion with Him?
How can you start loving people and creations made in the image of God?
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
