“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
2 Corinthians 12:8-9
Ever been in one of those moments where all seems lost? Like the is no hope? Like there is no way out? Yeah, me neither.
Well actually, there was this one time where allegedly my sister and I were throwing a basketball around the house….maybe even at each other around the house….allegedly, and we broke a lamp in our dinning room. This was a lamp that my mother really liked. Mom was due home around 4:30pm. My sister and I cleaned up the mess and tried to glue the lamp back together. Allegedly! If this were to happen, we would then get our story together so that we were on the same page should this ever happen and Mom come home from work. Four thirty rolls around and my mom sees that she doesn’t have a lamp any longer. She asks, “what happened?” Without skipping a beat I said, “Julie (my sister) broke your lamp!” What?!?! Wasn’t that the plan? Anyway, knowing that we had turned on each other like a good villain in professional wrestling, my sister then tells Mom that I did it. We go back and forth for a bit. My mom then stops us both and says, “it’s ok, I love you both, I am sure it was an accident”. My sister and I just stopped and looked at each other and asked, “What just happened?”
I learned a valuable lesson about grace that day. No matter what kind of issue I’m facing today, no matter what I have done, no matter what I ask God to do in my life; His Grace is Enough! God’s grace covers a multitude of things. Our mistakes, our shortcomings, our shame, our disasters, and even breaking and lying about breaking a lamp in your mother’s house. God’s grace will always be enough no matter that you are going through today. Like Paul, you may have a phsyical ailment. Like Paul, some of us may recognize our own weakness, but it’s the same for all of us; God’s grace is enough! God’s grace is more than we need and way more than we deserve.
The challenge today is:
1. What do you need to bring to God and allow His grace to cover it?
2. Who do you need to show grace to today? Someone who may not even deserve it!
Praying for you to experience Efficient Grace today!
